Yesterday was my guard duty for this month, and since i'm suffering from a slight flu so i decided to take day off for today, and my superior has granted my wish and therefore i was very looking forward to the end of the duty. So this morning, as usual duties, i take the gate key to open the gate and stand there for 45mins to check on the people entering the camp and once it's 8am, which is the end of duty, i quickly went to take my bag and voomed to the bus stop and wait for the bus to go home. Throughout the journey, everything seem fine but in fact it wasn't and i only discovered it some time later.... So i juz missed the bus, waited for another 10mins or so for 854, happily boarded the bus went to hougang point NTUC to get some daily product - apples! Then went to pay money, as i'm queuing up, my fingers ran thru my pocket searching for my wallet... instead i pulled out a set of keys that's alien to me. Damn! i forgot to return the gate key after standing there for 45mins. And now i'm oredi near my house, but since i'm a responsible (ahem) person, i immediately drop my basket containing the apples at one corner and ran off to flag a cab.. As i make my way back to camp, today's duty ic called me asking whether i got take the keys and i tell him wat happened, and he's a damn nice guy... So i reached my camp pass the duty ic the keys and returned to the cab and made my way once again to NTUC to buy my daily product again - apples! Well, on the way back, the taxi uncle started chatting with me, telling me everything about his sons, one of them signed on as a regular with the air force, tell me how his son regretted didn't study hard enough for his O level. and how this taxi uncle worried about his sons future after he leaves the air force. Though the cab fare totaled $17.60, i think the conversation i had with this taxi uncle is worth every cent of it. Anyway, as i went back to NTUC, i went to to corner where i put down the basket earlier and to my surprise the basket is still there intact with the 10 apples that i chose earlier... haha at least this saved me some precious time on my off day!
